View Full Version : healthy eating and bloating

I've just drastically changed my diet 2 months ago due to very high cholesterol. I've seen lost 13 lbs.
I eat healthy, try my best for 5 to 9 fruits and veggies a day, 2 servings of grains, legumes, no red meat, just chicken and fish etc...
For the last week, I find about 30 minutes after a meal, I get severe bloating and gas. I also feel full. This doesn't pass (no pun intended! :) ) for several hours.
I don't plan on going back to unhealthy eating but I wonder if my dietary changes could be responsible to these recent symptoms.
Is this something temporary? why did it just start?

Hi Boubou,

That's great you've changed your diet to be healthy. Healthy foods like legumes and vegetables often cause bloating. You can try taking beano right before you eat these foods or try stomach soothers afterward like mint tea, fenel, anise or caraway seeds. That's my best advice.

Good luck!

More than bloating now. I had pain and burning and felt nausea yesterday.
Doctor told me we'll do some test but most likely too much acid in my stomach. I took a Zantak yesterday and it really helped. Darn it, guess my body got a little stressed out from the weight loss and all the veggies. All good tho, things will straighten themself out I'm sure.
