Ok I'm getting very worried about my dad. He's 47 years old and has horrible digestion problems. He can't go out to a restaurant without getting diarrhea , or vomiting after. This has been going on for years. He went to the hospital before and had that thing where they shove a camera down your throat and into your stomach but the doctors didn't find anything. From the stories I hear it all started when he was broke and in college; he lived on a complete diet of extremely cheap hot dogs. Like a pack of 100 for a few dollars. Anyways he is ibs and all these horrible problems.

But the worst is he can hardly eat anything. We have to limit all our diets because of him. All we eat now is steak, fish, chicken, pasta, and hamburgers. What could this be from? Tonight he ate chicken and potatoes. We all ate the same thing. And right now he is saying that he has waves of horrible nausea and feels like throwing up. This happens very often. SO often that he's given all hope on medicine and wants to just live like this.

I'm sorry your dad is going through this. It sure sounds like me when my gallbladder became infected. But before they removed it, I was unable to eat anything for about 4 months. It's was miserable. Has he had all the other GI tests done such as a barium swollow study, lower intestine study, barium enema? He needs to rule everything out, including gastroparises. Good luck, Soph

He should consider food allergies as a cause. Also there are good stomach enzyme products at the health food stores/ drugstores that aid digestion. One common allergen is an additive to keep salads, etc. fresh in restaurants, also MSG. My daughter had some horrendous reactions after eating out. As well as allergies to egg( which we knew),she is allergic to some additives and is lactose intolerant. I personally take acidophilus 3x daily when my stomach acts up.

There is also the low blood sugar theory which makes a lot of sense when it comes to digestion problems, depression and numerous other symptoms. Just a thought! Soph
