I have gotten around to starting tecturna. Has anyone been on this? How long before I notice a change in readings? It is day 2 and my readings are the same as when I was taking Tarka. I would have thought 2 days without tarka something would change, higher or lower ,it is still 133/72.

Update Day 3 BP is now 153/85 at home. Has not been this high in 3 years. I guess the Tarka is wearing off. How long before the tecturna starts working? I don't want my BP to go into the 200's as it did in the begining.
This is really bugging me.

browinie, i was put on tekturna 150 in march i think, along with diovan160. bp went up instead of down. it stayed like yours, in that same area till june. it skyrocketed into the 200s with chest pain. my dr told me to go to er. i did, it took them a day to get it down. kept me in hosp for 2 days doing tons of tests and upping my meds. they put me on 300 mg tekturna and divan and 10mg metoprolol 2xday when i left.
bp still did not get much better and i felt awful on the beta blocker. after a month or 6 wks i told him i couldn't take bb, he put me on exforge and still 300 tek. still didn't work.
now i'm on 300 tek.....320 diovan.....half of xanax... and a water pill . bp is still erratic, some days great some days 155/96. i'm so disgusted. made an appointment with a hypertension specialist. go next fri. don't know waht to expect. i don't see anything great in this tekturna. plus my health ins. won't cover it.
i writing this in a hurry , but will check back later. wish i could help you more. good luck, hope you have better luck.

Day 4 - BP is now 184/94 It's like I am not on any meds. I don't think Tecturna works. They better do more research on it. If I don't see my BP drop, or it goes higher, I am going back on tarka.
P.S. I am on 300 mg.

Can you go back on tarka? if so , i would too. like i said , i don't see any advantage to tekturna. before i started it, i was on benicar, hct, and cardizem. my bp stayed low til i started getting sick from the cardizem and i also believe the hct. bp has not been near as good since being on tekt. i agree with you, more research is needed i think.
when i was in hospital in june, one of the drs who was brought in to look for possible kidney problems, which were not there, told me that just because they have this new med to lower renin doesn' t mean it's absolutly meant for me. this is why i decided to visit his medical group, hopefully they can help find the right med. i have such a problem with side effects.
let me know how things go for you.

I took ACEi's for over three years and suddenly became allergic to them. I read that this was not uncommon. I have tried each of the ARBs and each have made me feel terrible. I am weaning off the last ARB, Avapro and am going to try this new class of medicines, whatever class Tekturna is in.
I am so hopeful......and grateful out of desperation I suppose. I take a beta blocker and Lasix already.
I really hope that I can tolerate this medicine....Stars13, was your doctor saying this medicine was hurting your kidneys?
Thanks so much :)

No Huck, I think he meant that it wasn't helping my bp. i had ctscan on my kidney in june and other then having "bendy renal arteries" , my kidneys are fine.
i hope you have better results from it then i seem to be having. i also don't feel too well but i'm not sure that's from the tekturna or the diovan. recently i've gone back to hzt which also makes me sick, so i've been starting and stopping that one which i'm not sure is too good. i know how important it is to take these meds, i just wish i could find one that works well for me and with me. still searching.
good luck and keep positive

Day 5 - Checked my BP last night before bed 168/93, Checked again this morning 163/87. I think I will give tekturna a little more time. And yes I can go back on tarka, I never had a problem with it and I still have a 1 mo. supply. Last night I was a little shakey . Today I feel real good. As I said I think I will give it a little more time.

Day's 6-11- BP has droped each day . It is now at 138/66 . I hope it goes down a little more. After getting use to the tekturna I feel complety normal, with the Tarka I did feel a little druged, not so with this.

My BP did not stay down for long, It worked for about a week then began to rise. The last two weeks it has been around 160/93. Went to the Dr today
and my BP was 220/110. The last time it has been that high was before I went on BP meds. Tekturna does not work ,at least for me. I am back on Tarka, now my BP can get back to normal. To anyone who goes on tekturna
my advice is to watch your BP every day. It may work for other people and I hope it does. GOOD LUCK TO ALL :)

Brownie,
thanks for sharing. If you don't mind me asking, why did you switch from Tarka to Tekturna in the first place? Was is not keeping your blood pressure well controlled? If an inadequate blood pressure reduction was the reason for the change in medication, WHY would you be wanting to go back on it? I like ACE inhibitors. I think they cause the least amount of side effects. They might be more effective when combined with a diuretic, than with a calcium channel blocker. Taking two or more meds separately (not as one pill) is not a big deal. You need to get that blood pressure under control. Don't be afraid to try other medication. Do whatever it takes to reduce it to normal levels.
Good luck. :)

My BP was well under controll. Apx.125/68 My Dr told me that they were not going to make Tarka any longer so I needed to switch to Tekturna. I decided to call the company to complain. They told me Tarka is going to be made and it is selling well. They don't need to promote it to the Dr's anymore ( NO GIFTS).
Tekturna is a brand new drug (NEW GIFTS) I thought I would try it since I had the free samples. IT DIDN'T WORK. I am not afraid to try new med's
but not when my old med's work.
