View Full Version : still having issues need advice

Hi All,
Almost a year ago I had rectal bleeding and bowel issues. I had a colonostomy where they found and removed 3 polyps which were pre-cancerous. I go back in 2 years for a followup and if that's clear every 5 years. My light bleeding has never stopped and I assumed hemerroids(sp?).
I also have itching and wetness in the area.

This weekend I woke up and when I went to the bathroom I felt a rather hard smooth mass at the edge of my anus. It literally appeared overnight as it is small but very obvious when wiping. Is this just an external hemmeroid that I should still be looked at or could it be a tumor that they missed at the colonoscopy exam?

Anyone else here looking for advice or afraid of a colonoscopy just have it done as it's not a big deal.

Thanks,
John

Hi,
sounds like a hemmoroid. I would go to the doctor as they can prescribe some anti-biotics and/or cortisone creams that should fix you up. If you let it go it can get worse and cause problems.

I agree, from your description it sounds like a hemorrhoid. Hydrocortisone suppositories prescription strength should help it shrink. My colorectal surgeon said the best way to avoid hemorrhoids is to not sit on the commode for long periods of time and have bowel movements soft enough that you do not have to do a lot of straining. My mom always said lifting heavy objects caused hers.

I freak out too at the sight of blood, so you are not alone.

Barbara
