i have neuropathy and after trying gabapentin and now pregabalin my neurologist as suggested taking topirmate .i have put on 2 stone taking the other tablets how will topirmate help me lose the weight

I don't know how it works, but I do know that not everybody who takes Topamax will lose weight.
When I started taking it, I was about 125. After taking it for less than 6 months, I lost about 15 pounds. I'm pretty short, but I still look emaciated at that weight.
The neuro did tell me that this drug seems to "work" for people who *don't* want to lose weight. I don't know if that is true in all cases (I'm sure it's not), but I do know of a heavy-set woman at my Lyme dr's office who said that she didn't lose any weight at all- and she was pretty upset about it.
