I tested postive 2 out of 3 of my hemocult tests. I can't see any blood, but I do see black spots. I have very firm stools & thought this may be why I am testing positive for blood. I have been going every day, so it's not like I am constipated, but my stools are still firm & hard. Doesn't it have to be bright red blood visible on the tissue or in the toilet if it is cancer? Besides, I am in my early 30's & colon cancer is something that hits people in their 50s+....

My pcp has referred me to a general surgeon for an EGD & colonscopy. I don't have insurance & I think this may be a bit excessive. I do have weight loss & some other symptoms, but NO diahrrea.

Well, my appointment with my general surgeon is on Tuesday. I will post when I get back.

I keep hoping it's just from my firm poo. Anyone who might have info on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have no info for you but Im interested in the outcome. I think hard poo can give you hemorrhoids. Good luck at your appt.

I told him I had very firm poo, but he didn't ask me any more about it. I don't have visable blood & no other bowel symptoms. He didn't really say what he thought, but he did talk a lot about colon cancer. It kinda scared me a bit. I lost more weight, 4 lbs in 8 days. I am now underweight. Ugh. I just have to wait for my scopes to find out what we are dealing with. I will let you all know but it is probably going to be weeks before I know.
