I want to know if anyone else with low ferritin has had a weird feeling in their leg. My heart feels like is is racing a bit and then I get a weird jolt from my heart down my left leg. My leg feels kind of weak and twitches sometimes.

I had a ferritin level of 2 early last year. Then it went up to 18 later in the year and my doctor said I was fine so I stopped iron pills. Now for a a couple of months I have felt horrible again - dizzy, headache, racing heart, numb fingers and this weird leg (which is always on my left leg only). These are all the same symptoms I had back when my level was 2.

I started iron pills again and the headache is gone but the heart racing and leg thing won't go away. Anyone else had this?

I have been having left sided neuro type problems but they don't think that it is Ferritin related. Nobody knows????? I don't think that anyone really knows how this effects us as individuals our bodies are so different. How can they know?

I would not ever want to go through this again therefore I would make sure that my Ferritin was VERY high 50-70-and up before I would stop iron or go to a maintenance plan. My hematologist said, as long as you are having a period you should be on iron.

As far as the heart racing, mine went away when I was no longer anemic. It took a long time. Good Luck! FLFLOWERGIRL:)
