Dear All,

Can anyone explain what raised ck enzyme levels mean. I had an appt today with ms dr who informed that I have significantly raised ck levels.

What does this mean and is this related to ms symptoms?

Many thanks

CK = creatine kinase, the levels MAY BE high in MS patients. BUT they are also elevated in strokes. If this is the only indicator, further tests would definitely be necessary.

Hi Thanks for replying...so quick!

I've had the various other tests, mri's, lp, physical etc but I was only informed today about this.

What happens when the ck level is raised though....am I right in thinking it rises due to muscle damage?

Thanks again

Eli,

The ck can rise when there is inflamation in the muscles.

Is your Dr gonna run anymore test?

Hi Duttin,

Hope you are ok?

Yes my dr is organising an emg/ncs test hopefully within the next 8 weeks. He also took more bloods yesterday and some repeat mri's in a few months. My own GP, who I saw today for some meds said she is keen to keep checking the CK.
