I don't know why you would be warned against supplements. In fact, it's very dangerous NOT to treat anemia. The first thing you do is go on supplements. Now, supplements can make you feel bad--mainly in the digestive areas. But you can work around that by trying different brands, different doses, etc.

You really need to work on getting rid of the anemia as it can damage your body in many ways. Get some iron pronto!!!

They say not to begin supplements until you have had a blood test to be sure that you need the iron. Maybe this is what you mean? FLFLOWERGIRL:)

Just get a complete blood count and you will know if you are anemic or not. Be sure not to put it off. Good luck to you. FLFLOWERGIRL:)

A complete blood count is a Hematology report on your blood. It is a standard blood test to look at your blood profile. The complete blood count is also known as (CBC) in short.

This report tells your (HGB) Hemoglobin, (HCT) Hematocrit, and (RBC) Red Blood Cells, plus much more. When the HGB and HCT are below the range on the chart, the doctor determines that you are currently anemic. It also tells them HOW MUCH iron supplement you should be on.

Even if your doctor has moved, any doctor can give you this test, its simple. But you need to get on iron supplements and a multi-vitamin right away if you are anemic, so see a doctor soon. FLFLOWERGIRL:)
