ok all! hope this week is going good for everyone!
i was referred to an allergist to check on that part of my world since i have been having a lot of issues with sinus, etc and the whole ETD that all the doctors just keep handing me nose spray....as well as the moldy apt.
anyway, had some allergies to some weeds, a few trees, and boderline mold...which the dr said i should probably move since i had the mold issues in my apt for so long now. they also did a breathing test and i did horrible!!! they said i have asthma..but i never have had issues. i am so worried now that there's something else causing all this. the lady was like wow..these are really low numbers (on the breathing test). scared me, anyone here have this too?
my main question/point here is that he also checked my ears and sinus. he said it looked like there is some fluid in my right ear (the one i have had the most problems with and they all say ETD in it) and that I do have some ETD in it----no crap. well, he just said to keep using the nasonex and it should help.....ughhhH!!! i've been using it and it hasn't done anything. should i be concerned about the fluid....and i know that ETD can cause dizziness....so why aren't they doing more for me?!?!?!? called my pcp and told them and they are gonna see if they cant get my nov ENT specialist/dizzy dr to get me in sooner with all this junk....
any thoughts???:)

Oddly enough, that's kind of how things started for me. Dr kept handing me nose spray, gave me a cortison shot because my sinuses were all messed up and he thought that caused the dizziness. I haven't had any allergy tests done but I'm pretty sure that I have some issues there. It seems like I'm always a little congested, sometimes more, sometimes less, and I had a horrible cough that was made worse (or brought on) by certain foods/drinks earlier this year. Almost seemed like asthma to me, though I've never had it. Allergy asthma? Maybe there is such a thing. Should probably get that checked out.
But! Long story short, you're not the only one. Which is pretty weird...

Sounds like that Dr might be good at finding allergies but not much else. I seriously hate when they just hand you medication to treat the symptoms instead of trying to find the cause and treating that, getting rid of the symptoms completely! Grrrr. I think your best shot is the ENT/dizzy specialist. I hope you can get in sooner. November is pretty far out when you don't feel well.

Been there, done that, doing that! A few months after all of this started, I tried my luck with an Allergist since my ENT was clueless, and he tested me and found that I am allergic to dust mites and dog hair. So I did the whole dust mite clean up in my house (mattress and pillow case allergy covers, air purifier, dust mite spray on carpet, wash all bedding in hot water every week, dust room carefully each week with mask on, etc.) I also started immunotherapy in June - which is a huge committment. One shot in each arm, twice a week for at least one year, and then I think monthly shots for 4 years or something crazy like that. Anyway, I also took the breathing test and the results were excellent so that's good.
I have had sinus problems for the past 10 years or so and I guess it was the allergies, which would then turn into infections. I do think is where the inner ear thing started. So Alexi - you might want to consider immunotherapy. I also rinse my sinuses DAILY to get stuff out of there that could cause any sinus problems.
I would also elevate your bed so maybe some of that fluid in your ears will drain out and not just gather up there at night. That is what I did as well.

hey! thanks both of ya'll for the response!
missy...how do you "drain" your sinuses?
also, should i be worried about the fluid in the ear that he said was there????
missy, how have you been lately?
sipa, you hangin in there since the last pt?
hope all is well!
ohhhh and almost forgot.... i bugged my pcp so much i guess he called the specialist this morning. i got a call saying my appt is moved to monday oct
8th!! yeah!!! probably still won't get much accomplished with it as in feeling better, but i hope to have the tests done finally to ease my mind if i do have vestibular damage, or if he can do something about my eustachian tube.:D

Hey Alexi! Been doing pretty well with a few days "off". I am noticing that my worse days are around the start of my cycle, and also mid-cycle. I think its hormone related mostly, when the estrogen levels drop around those times. I haven't had any 24/7 dizziness for over a month (yay!), but still get shorter "spells" that go away quickly after I relax or drink water. Still doing the migraine diet and will continue that.
To drain your sinuses, the best thing is to keep it "open" and flowing up there. So inflammation is not good because it "traps" the fluid either in your sinuses, or ears. That is why the docs give out nose spray so generously - to try to OPEN up the sinus and let that fluid drain out. But you can also help accomplish this by elevating your bed, daily sinus rinsing (with a nettie pot), and mostly trying to keep your sinuses from swelling which unfortunately happen to us folks who suffer from allergies. :( So immunotherapy is really the best bet if you can't avoid your allergens. Like you said, you might be surprised if you move out of your moldy place and your sinuses clear up! :)

Awesome that they moved the appointment! You should give me lessons in how to bug Dr.'s! haha :D
I don't have to go back to the PT for 2 weeks.. not like she'll do anything else for me. At least I'll be shocked if it isn't going to be more of the same. But who knows, maybe by then I'll have had another vertigo attack that'll throw her off her, "hey you're getting better" routine.
My mom has sinus issues, they're too small or something , so she needs to keep them clear. She uses a salt water nose spray every day. It's not addicting like over the counter nose sprays and is supposed to work. You can find those in any drug store and they're pretty cheap.
