Ok yeasterday i nearly died of embarrassement. :o I had to go and see a Continence specialist. Having a few incidents with the water works department. What i thought was going to be a OLD man turns out to be a totally mid 30's gorgeous looking guy. lol now but not smiling then. Anyway... Now it seems i need to have Urodynamic Testing.. have any of you had this before.. i'm dreading a catheder.. The only time i've had this was through my labour, at least then i was under Epidural... How long will this test take ??
He seems to think its MS related. Wants to do this test before i need any meds..

HI Glamour Girl. I havent had this test, but it has been discussed and I am on my way to my MS SPecialist now! I just wanted to tell you that you have my sympathies, and thanks for the chuckle on "his gorgeousness"--I can imagine your discomfort...he should have been a she, and she should have been 50+ in age...I agree. Young good looking docs should all have to be pediatric specialists or something non threatening!
I hope you get the info you need, and please share it with me if you do! Illl let you know if I get additional info today..
Hugs

Thanks Nikki,
That will be on Nov 1st when i have this test. OMG I'm telling you he was a honey. When i got back to the car i told hubby ( thank god i told him to wait there) how i went, it sort of slipped out that the Dr was a total spunk, lol.. needless to say he was not impressed. I had to give the Dr a sample of my Urine... Far out he had to measure it and test it in case i had a infection. but no i don't... I swear i don't normally suffer hot flushes but my face burned with embarrassment. And he knew it. HE said " oh its okay i see lots of women dont be shy" YEAH RIGHT i thought 80 yr olds maybe but not me I'm only 38.. . I can only laugh about it now, that I'm telling you this.
Anyway see how you go today, Hope you have better luck !!!

Urodynamic test was the most embarrassing test I have encountered and I have had some embarrassing ones. The test took about 30 minutes. It told us what we already know, I don't empty my bladder completely. Since the medicine I was given to try and remedy this made me very sick, my other choice was self catheterization. I haven't done this yet. I have been trying natural remedy's and it has helped some.

Recently I have been experiencing water works problems too. I've talked with my neuro about it, but I'm curious to know if the things I'm experiencing are similar to what others have experienced. The first problems happened when I was waking up in the morning, rolling over to get up out of bed and I would experience some "leaking". After that it went to when I stood up out of bed my bladder would just dump...not good! Now, in addition to still having the first two problems, sometimes I just can't "get started" without really thinking about what I'm trying to do. And I have a feeling of numbness too. Any of this stuff sound familiar?
Are we having fun yet??? ;)

I have not had that yet but I can relate to you with the sexy doc.
When I was about 18 or 19 I went to the gyne and he turned out to be about the sexiest guy I had seen. He was about 30 and he was buffed, tan, blonde hair and green eyes and looked like he just walked off the beach. The way I handled it was to say he was not touching me, he told me this was his job and not to be shy and it was no worse than being at the dentist and I told him I don't care he was not touching me that I would rather be at the dentist. They brought in an older female doc and I was happy. There was no way a hunky young man was going to touch me if you know what I mean. ;) Good Luck to you

oh thanks girl,
I'm dreading this... Hot flash, I do know what you mean, I literally died when he had to examine me, Worse than a pap smear i think, He checked my pelvic muscles, they were weak. He did get a female nurse to come in, but he preformed the procedure. It will definitely be a old specialist on the day, and yeah he will be there to assist. Kill me now i reckon..
I don't always empty my bladder, and the two times i did leak TINY bit. is still classed as continence problems, cause they will get worse ..Fun Fun Fun.
What meds did they give you, They are looking at meds but i'm choosing to wait till i get this test done.
All hubby is worried at the moment is not my prob, but exactly how good looking the Dr is....lol...

I am in a study group for avonex and copaxone. I am on either one of those drugs or a combination of the two so I don't know which of the three I am on.As far as the cute dr ask your husband if he wants to come in with you or have you take a picture. LOL!!!! I always hope that a man gets a good looking female dr when they have to have a hernia or prostrate exam, then they would know what we are talking about. Would serve them right.
enjoy your day

Hi painsucks,
I totally understand the frustration you are having with the bladder problems. I have been diagnosed with MS going on 4 years now and the trouble with my bladder has been there since at least year 2. On top of all of the other problems that I face with MS, I have to admit that one of the worst to deal with is the problems I have with my bladder. I don't have problems with the leaking that often (I was told by my urologist that the leaking, especially the major dumping is from not voiding enough urine and your bladder fills up so much that all of the sudden...gush...because your bladder can't hold it any longer), however, I experience urgency, frequency, as well as, retention which also leads to bladder infection after bladder infection. In the beginning I just went on Ditropan twice a day. This was suppose to help with urgency and frequency. It did help a little with the urgency, but I still have a lot of trouble with frequency especially a night (I get up 4-5 times a night) and I suffer from bladder infection all of the time. Finally after years of this annoyance and seeing a Urologist my neuro has decided to but me on Hytrin which is actually a medication also used for high blood pressure (which I don't have) but is also used for problems with voiding (which in my case is why I wake so often at night because I don't empty my bladder enough before bed which cases me to wake up often to void). I also have that problem where you really have to think about it sometime to finally start to void, I even find my self trying to push it out by pressing on my bladder. This Hytrin medication is suppose to give better control over the sphincter muscle so that you are able to void more properly. I just started using it a couple weeks ago starting with 1/2 of a 1mg tablet before bed and then slowly working up to 4 mg (for me anyway). I noticed a difference right away. I just started the 1 mg dose on Friday and last night I only woke up twice and I have found voiding a bit easier and that it came out more naturally and more urine at one time.
Therefore, the Ditropan and the Hytrin seem to be helping together so far, but it is new to me...so I will see how it works in the long run. I was also told that if the Hytrin doesn't work that I may have to start self-catheterization...last resort...I hope the Hytrin works well.
Good luck with everything and let me know what works for you.

Hey, Pain sucks. I have EXACTLY the same symptoms as you. I''m on 15mg of Enablex during the day. ,2 mg of AADVP at night. And trying to get on a normal pee schedule. Every 1.5 hours I truck to the bathroom. At night I wear Depends, because most of the time the flood starts before I hit the toilet. For me, this is absolutely the worst aspect of the disese except falling down. which I do at least once a day. :<.
AADVP is wonder drug so far as I'm concerned. Nice to sleep thru the night. My recod was getting up 23 tmes in ten hours!
