Hi Everyone,

I have had a stressful day. It started at 3 a.m. Wednesday morning when my son, who is a police officer, called. He was off duty and out with a friend of his around 1 a.m. when he and his friend were robbed at gunpoint by two men who had been hiding around a corner behind bushes. As the robbers approached my son and his friend, at least one of them cocked the gun, so it was ready to shoot. My son and his friend were forced to lie on the ground and the robbers took my son's bank card, $20, his cell phone and his personal gun. The robbers also took his friends Blackberry. Once they got my son's gun, there was a pause for several seconds and my son didn't know if he was going to be shot in the head or back or what was going to happen. Thankfully, the robbers fled the scene and my son and his friend were quite shaken up, but unharmed! Since my son was lying on his stomach, the robbers didn't see his badge. That's a good thing, because if they had known my son was a police officer, they probably would have shot him.

We spent the evening with my son and he is still tense, understandably so. He said his body is sore from where he tensed up thinking he was going to be shot. I think he is probably going to be even more sore tomorrow and was glad he took tonight off.

It took my husband and I about an hour to get back to sleep this morning and then we had to get up at 6:00. We just got home at 11:00 tonight and I'm just sitting here chilling for a little bit before I go to bed.

I had a migraine come on me suddenly this morning with the aura around my eyes, but thankfully 800 mg of ibuprofen did the trick. My left foot was pretty numb today and my back was killing me all day. I'm glad I got to see my son to see for myself that he is okay. I can't believe that I could have lost him today! He's only 25 years old!

My almost 19-year-old daughter is taking it really hard. She and her brother are extremely close. They are the only two children I have (after having been pregnant a total of 8 times and having 6 miscarriages).

I'm sorry to go on for so long, but I just had to tell you about my day and get it out of my system. I needed to talk about it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed day! I know my family was certainly blessed today! :)

Hugs,

Lynn

Lynn~ That sure does add alot of stress and I'm sure that was a scary situation. I'm really glad that no one was hurt!!

When it comes to our children, the world stops when they need us, for sure.

But try to relax today and remind yourself that with everthing you've been going through, stress is your enemy these days.

I had a very stressful situation this week with my older son and I was determined not to fall apart. I had to put it in the back of my mind to keep myself okay. Its a very hard thing to do, I know, but I just kept telling myself that some things I can not change so let it go!! Amazingly, for the 1st time in my life I was able to do this, Thanks only to the advice of this board and everyone always saying not to stress, I was able to get through this myself.I hope you can too!!

Our thoughts are with you!!

Hi Cindy,

Thank you very much! It's still early here, so I haven't talked to my son today to see how he's doing. I know it's really bothering my daughter. She just left for college (she commutes the 21 miles each way) and she is not her normal self. I feel so bad for her.

At least we are a very close family and our children have always been able to talk to us about anything, so we will get through this together!

Thank you again for caring and for your support! :)

Hugs,

Lynn

That is so scary - Stress will make many symptoms appear. Thankfully he is okay and now you all can rest and enjoy each other. Hopefully your symptoms go away as fast as they came on.

NCLynn ~ what an ordeal! Above all let's thank the Lord that neither your son nor his friend were harmed. It is sad that thugs out there still prey on innocent people. I know even being a police officer - such an event is sure to be scary, so we know that in time your son will be fine, even though this was a scary moment. I think we are all relieved that his badge remained concealed - knowing how evil criminals are and their dislike for Law and Order, the outcome may have been different. Nonetheless this sure does increase stress levels, so hope you managed to get some good rest and that everything is ok once again all be it the struggles we face...

Hang in there, and get some good rest...

Blessings.

Thank goodness your son and his friend is safe.Quite an ordeal.

It must be the recent full moon as I had a guy break into my home saturday night around 3 am.thankfully my 140 pound newfie was able to drag him to the ground and keep him there until the police arrived.

The stress can get ya,I was home with my 2 children,16 and 12.this stressful situation has put me in a relapse and I have symptoms that I havn't had in over a year.

As scary as it is your son is safe, even though they got his personal belongings, they can be replaced.

Emotions and adreniline can run high in tramatic situations in return will bring out the nasty side of this disease.

Please take care of yourself.

Hi Duttin,

I am taking care of myself. I do thank God that my son is safe. The material things can be replaced and we all know that.

I haven't gotten a diagnosis as to what I have, but I see the neuro tomorrow to go over the results of my sleep study and MRI from last Friday.

I hope you feel better soon. I know you have been through the ringer recently!

Have a wonderful and blessed evening! :)

Lynn
