ok, so my girlfriend has an obsession for blood. she has many mental disorders including bipolar, BPD and PTS.

but her mental state doesnt really give a reason as to why when she has major cravings for blood itself, she gets SO sick if she doesnt have some sorta blood. her only fix for it right now is rare steaks. u know? like cooked on the outside but still really pink in the middle and still dripping with blood.

id really like to know if there's a name for this at all.

The name of it is ...any one of her diagnosis. Often times they just cut on themselves.

she does cut, but that doesnt explain why she gets so sick when she has major cravings for blood.

I have no idea what it could be. Maybe she is anemic or something, although I don't think that would cause it. I would go to the doctors and get a blood work up done, maybe she is lacking something in her diet.

That is the point...There is no rational/understandable reasons for it that is why she is a psychiatric patient with psychiatric diagnosis.

The name is "damned dangerous condition." She should be under the care of a medical professional to whom you should direct your questions and observations.

This could be a sign of vit. B6 deficiency, I also think there are a few physical illnesses that can cause this symptom, one of them being a certain type Porphyria, which can also causes mental disorders.

I have porphyria, and I don't crave blood, I don't know where that came from, the idea that we crave blood. When I have a flare up I have phlebotomys to get my iron level down.
