jackie 65 09-27-2007, 02:43 AM can fibrods be a part of perimenopause? Sponsor marymk 09-27-2007, 11:47 AM Hi Jackie, I think they may be. I know I had 1 fibroid when I was 38, because it showed up on an ultrasound I had when pregnant. Now I'm 49, and I have at least three that I've know about for a couple of years. I think raging hormones can be a cause. It's also good to know that when we reach full menopuase (no more periods), that they shrink - from lack of hormones. Mary Charlyssa 10-04-2007, 05:18 AM can fibrods be a part of perimenopause? hi! are you asking if fibroids are caused by perimenopause? if so, no, they aren't. the jury is still out on what causes them, but hormones during the childbirth years are thought to play a definite part. that's why they usually begin to shrink in peri and post. i am post, but i still have them, though they are smaller. i developed VERY heavy periods in my early 30's, which is when they were discovered, but i was still years away from peri. char  |
