Hi Jay, Remeron is also called mirtazapine, an anti-depressant. It is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) used for the treatment of depression, works through noradrenergic and serotonergic pharmacologic action.
It is a 5-HT2 antagonist drug.

I took it for about a month a long time ago. Seems that it helped me to sleep better. But I think I broke out in a rash from it so I had to stop taking it. It is another drug prescribed for fibromyalgia; hoping to obtain pain relief or create a better sleeping pattern.

There are 5 different categories of anti-depressants. I have tried three or four from each category. I ended up with Trazodone, another type like the Remeron, which I could tolerate. I used to take it at night with a mild sleeping pill.
