I have had both thyroid cancer and breast cancer in the last 2 years. I had total thyroidectomy in 03-05 and lumpectomy in 9-06. My tumor was only
.6cm and negative sentinel node but had chemo because oncotype DX test showed tissue from tumor put me in high risk for recurrence. I am now taking synthroid and femara. Evidently, chemo and femara does something to keep the synthroid from absorbing properly because I keep getting hypo and my synthroid has to be increased. I wait around 4 hours after taking synthroid to take my femara. Has anyone else had this problem? Our oncologists and endocrinologists need to be aware of this and try to do something to help those of us who have this problem. I cannot find anything on the internet where it says this can happen except on a Healthboard where a woman said she had to keep increasing synthroid several times after taking femara. Pls give me your thoughts on this. I just turned 59 and hope this can be resolved during my lifetime. Thanks!:angel:
