I noticed that this OTC pain killer is mentioned by some of you. Does it work better than Ibuprofen(advil)? How does it compare? kuntryhart

I wasn't aware that it was sold over the counter but even if it is, you'll probably need to get it in prescription strength.. I experienced absolutely no pain relief from OTC anti-inflammatories such as advil and tylenol.. In fact, most of them made me feel worse.. The Orudis has helped me dramatically.. It took a little while for my stomach and digestive system to get used to it though (the drug warnings say that you have to sit or stand at least 30 minutes after taking it & take it with food because of possible esophageal erosion).. I'd say the biggest problem with it is that you aren't supposed to mix it with other anti-inflammatories, so if you get a headache or something, you're generally stuck with it.. Also, it doesn't seem to knock out the pain in my back (but some of that pain is due more to injuries that I sustained in an auto accident than fibromyalgia).. Hope that helps! She swears it helps her with her pain in her legs better than Ibuprofen. She has arthritis. That was why I noticed that you mentioned taking it. I fell about 2 weeks ago, and have had a lot of pain in my legs. I think the fall caused me to have a flare. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I could have done without that!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif My Dr just started me on Gabitril a little over a week ago, and I'm just soooo tired. He said fatigue was a side effect, and then raised my dosage. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif I really don't think I needed to take more, but pain is the problem. O well....kuntryhart |
