Ok, I realize this is really an odd question, but I must pose it. Does anyone have any evidence of there being a change in food cravings when you have cancer? I'm a 42 year old female who had intraocular melanoma 12 years ago. I've got three 'spots' on my liver which have been called hemangioma (blood spots) and usually get regular check ups but don't have insurance at the moment (and haven't for over 8 months). Anyway, I have some symptoms consistent with metastatic liver cancer which is one of the places intraocular melanoma goes. BUT, I"ve also noticed these strange cravings for white flour-y, sugar-y stuff. Normally, I eat pretty well but lately that has gone to hell. Anyone else concur or am I just nuts?:jester:
Thanks!

I don't know about the link between cravings and cancer, but cravings for refined carbs is quite often associated with candida, which is very common and can be systemic. If you have an additional craving for salt or if salt makes you feel better, it could indicate adrenal fatigue which wouldn't be surprising considering what your body's been through. I'd suggest getting tested for candida as a large infection could really compromise your already-compromised health.

Please keep us posted. :)

I'm a huge salt-aholic anyway, so I don't think it is humanly possible for me to eat more salt.
Now I must go search candida - interesting...!
Actually, my health is great. My cancer was contained within the eye, the eye was removed and I bounced right back.
It just seemed to me that since cancer has been shown to enjoy the sugars as much as most of us do, I thought maybe a craving COULD be a sign that cancer cells were attempting to grow. ...or maybe I'm thinking too much?
