I get nauseous quite often even from drinking water. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It happens after certain things I eat, like milk or chocolate, soda, chips, but the water nausea really freaks me out. My doctor can't give me an explanation.

You might have acid reflux. I often had a problem with nausea and even heartburn from drinking water, in addition to a whole bunch of other things. This was worse at night, although it could hit at any time. Then I was dx'd with GERD 2 years ago. Since being on a PPI, its much better.

I suggest you see a Gastro doc and talk with them about this.

Hi Nyxie!:D

To the original poster: I have acid reflux and there are times that water is my WORST trigger. I can't explain it. Sometimes it doesn't bother me and other times a few swallows will make me feel awful. Prior to be diagnosed and treated with reflux, nausea was my primary symptom and what got me sent to the doctor. I had no heartburn, nothing.

Even now, water will bother me worse than most beverages (coffee is actually the worst). I can drink sodas and feel fine but a glass of water will leave me feeling full, bloated, and sometimes sick to my stomach.

My mother in law has acid reflux and it does the exact same thing to her. One doc thought she was completely nuts when she said water made her sick and get heartburn, but the next doc had the exact same thing happen to him with his acid reflux and diagnosed her that day.
