Hello all,

Anyone here think there was some other "cause" for your symptoms before you finally accepted you had an anxiety disorder? And did you try everything in your power to get rid of that "cause" but just end making things worse?

I remember when an alternative practioner said my symptoms were being caused by a systemic candida infection, and i was placed on this HORRIBLE diet ( basically just meat and vegetables ) and herbal antifungals....
but it almost ended up giving me acute hepatitis. I actually believed the whole time that this was the cause too.....

That's just one example of me not wanting to accept that fact I had anxiety!

Anyone else have similar experiences?

yes, I went through some small stuff before being told it was anxiety. Nothing to the extent of what you went through though. My doc told me that it might be a hiatel hernia or an ulcer. He put me on some meds that ended up giving me diarrhea the entire time I was on them, which was lovely with how I was feeling already! Also thought I may have a thyroid issue. He did a CT of my thyroid, but it wasn't that either. After that, he finally told me that it was probably just anxiety. Thankfully that whole process only took a week or two and then I was started on Lexapro... which was a whole other event in itself!

When I went through my first depression ,accompianied by anxiety, I went a bunch of tests. It wasn't until I described a panic attack to the dr that they came up with the diagnosis. I had blood tests and eegs, xrays, other things. I even went through some tests 6 years later when it happened again, Now I just assume it is emotional. Godlbess:angel:
