My husbands blood pressure is high so of course on medication but cannot seem to get it right as one causes his feet to swell like balloons while another makes him disorientated and weak with the one he is now on keeping his pulse over 100 ALL the time. In fact his pulse is never below 90 and that is at rest.
Anyone else have the experience of HIGH PULSE all the time???
We cannot seem to get the exact right blood pressure medication and always tired and weak these days probably because of the constant high pulse rate? Would appreciate talking to anyone with symptons similar to my husband please anyone???

Has your thyroid been checked? When I was hyperthyroid my pulse was above 120. Any heart palpitations? Did you have a high pulse before you started taking b/p meds?

A beta blocker would probably get your pulse down fast.

Thank you for the reply famnd.

My husband is now on Felodur ER 10 mg.
and Quinapril 40mg

I notice his feet swelling again and still a high pulse. Beta Blockers have bad side effects with him. 3/4 of his thyroid was removed but all tests come back as the remainder works fine.
Thanks again

Has he tried taking diuretics for his high BP? Might not help with high heartrate, but it can work on swelling and the BP. Have to take potassium suppliments because diuretics deplete it. Doesn't work on everyone.
I have had a high heart rate for years. No known cause was given for me other than stress. While resting and not under stress is the best time to check heartrate... mine is around 70... but has been as high as 115.

i HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE TOO AND MY HEART DOCTOR CANNOT SEEMS TO GET IT LOW. THE LAST MEDICINE THAT HE GAVE ME "INDAPAMIDE" MAKE ME FEEL WEAK AND MY BLOOD PRESSURE FELL TO 91-73-49 VERY LOW. WHEN HE GET MY BLOOD TEST MY POTASSIUM GET SO LOW SO NOW HE IS GIVING ME MEDICINE FOR POTASIUM. ME TOO, HAS LOT OF PROBLEM WITH ALL THIS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE. DID YOUR DOCTOR CHECK FOR IRON DEFICIENCY MAYBE YOUR HUSBAND HAS LOW IRON THAT IS WHY HE IS WEAK. i HAVE THAT PROBLEM AND SO THEY GIVE ME IRON TRANSFUSION TOO. I JUST WALK 10 STEP OF MY STAIRS AND I AM ALREADY SO WEAK. MY PLATELETS ARE SO LOW SO I HAVE IRON TRANSFUSION.

Hi there...

It might not be a bad idea to request an event monitor... especially if he has any episodes of his heart racing in conjunction with the elevated heart rate.

They might also consider a calcuim channel blocker as opposed to a beta blocker if he just cannot tolerate the side effects of beta blockers... it sometimes takes trail and error to find the right medications that will work since everyone's chemistry is different.

I hope that things mellow out for him soon and the Dr's can find what works best for him quickly.
