I read what you said about the chemical sensitvity thing. I would be really interested in where you found this information. I was exposed to low levels of carbon monoxide over a period of several months. Our furnace had a leak that we were unaware of, our bird died from it. Had it not been for the City accidentally digging into a gas line who knows what may have happened. Out of my family I experienced the worst symptoms because I slept right by the heater vent. My point is that is whenI first started experiencing all the fibro symptoms, shortly after that experience I started doing artificial nails. Anyone who has had thier nails done knows what an odor the chemicals put off. I did nails for 4 years until my symptoms got too bad and I just couldn't do it anymore. At the end of a busy day doing nails I would often experience the "fog". Everyone says the chemicals are safe, but I wondered on more than one occassion if they were doing me harm. I used to have an excellent memory and could concentrate for long periods of time, nowadays I feel like a blithering idiot. What you said about chemicals really has me wondering. Any info. you could pass my way would be greatly appreciated.

To anyone else out there who may read this, I can totally relate to the fog, dizziness, trails, whatever you want to call it. That is what I hate the most about fibro. Sure being in pain all the time really stinks, and the weakness, but I really hate when I have to ask someone what they just said because I was in the fog. People think you aren't listening or paying attention. Either that or they think you are an airhead. Trying to remember things - the whole thing is just so frustrating. I feel like my brain has gone out to lunch and forgot to tell me it was leaving or when it would be back.

I can't comment on the chemical part; but if your brain finds mine while it is out...please send it home! LOL!! Sure seems like mine checks out deliberately sometimes just to cause a really embarassing moment!!!
Guess we can just turn red together!!

VanGogh,

I will look up the site and post it for you, pretty sure I saved it. Carbon Monoxide is also one of the gasses that comes from airbags, in relatively high levels. There are about 16 gasses/chemicals in all that come from the airbags listed on the paper I was able to get.

Many people have lasting effects from Carbon Monoxide. Some people have also posted remarks about Nail Chemicals. You really should look it up. Meanwhile, I will find that site for you.

The fog, wow, I know what you mean. It's embarrassing. Sometimes people can be talking to me, and they'd just as well be talking to a wall. It's almost like falling into unconsciousness while standing. You look awake, but didn't hear a word the person said, and you weren't thinking anything at all, then all of a sudden, you just snap out of it a realize you have no idea what the person just said to you.

This is one of the reasons why I choose not to drive anymore. I'm afraid this will happen to me while driving. Prior to my accident this was not a problem. But now, even when I am not in an actual "fog" I still can only do one thing at a time. Don't ask me a question if I'm typing, and don't even say my name if someone else is talking to me, because it takes so much of my brain power to do just ONE thing, that I won't even hear you...I mean I really won't hear you.

This was never a problem before the accident, but is now something I having to learn to live with, I guess.

Sincerely,
Caring

NO CHEMICAL EXPOSURE IS SAFE!!

Thats ludicrous and a very typical response from anyone who don't want to scare you or who doesn't want you to know or just don't care..

Carbon Monoxide exposure is very serious. I personally think that we have all been exposed to something and that is why we have FM... There has been many diseases that started off as mysteries only to be linked with some kind of exposure.. You would fry if you read some of the top secret documents out there of all the testing that has been done, spills and weapons experimentations etc..

You wait and see!! Mark my word people... We have been exposed some where down the line, I just know it!! Maybe an insect carrying something from its lab or maybe a gas or maybe a metal or poison or something!!

Do you have any fossil fuel burning appliances in your home? Your long term symptoms are indicative of chronic carbon monoxide poisoning similar to what my husband & I experienced for 4 long, horrible years. Every medical test under the sun was performed - all NEGATIVE. The final test, a carboxyhemoglobin test showed only 48% oxygen in my blood - co poisoning was slowly killing us. We had an unknown blocked chimney. P.S. We had the furnace safety checked, but the gas company failed to do a co test on it and did not check the exhaust system!

A lot of people have heard me write about this from time to time. I'm cured (for the most part) of fibromyalgia symptoms after having my mercury fillings replaced with less toxic ones nearly 10 years ago. Once, I was crippled with all sorts of pain and discomfort, and now I feel like I'm 20 years younger.

With my condition, I've always wondered if other toxins, could cause some of you problems similar to mine - even if it wasn't from dental amalgams. I think it's worth a person's time, to check and see what exposure they might be getting from different sources - to see if certain chemicals could be causing them to suffer with fibromyalgia symptoms too.

In general, I don't believe a lot of doctors are examining this area - where diet and our environment - affect our health - for these unexplained fibromyalgia pains.
