Hi, I know this is long but I want to cover everything and I NEED your help. Please help me and don't click back on your browser.

I have been experiencing a lot of pain for the past month, first started with constant head pain and more recently (2 weeks) a flood of discomfort and pain throughout my entire body. I checked myself into the hospital (2 weeks ago) but the student doctor there only did a physical on me. I don't know whats wrong with me, can you please help? I have been off work for 3 weeks now due to the pain, the constant head pain, muscle/joint pain and feeling of twisted spine is keeping me from getting out of bed. I am very young and for the past 3 weeks it's difficult to make it out of bed because of the pain. Please help.

Sex: Male
Age: 19
Family History: of diabetes on fathers side.
Medical History: Stomach ulcer, 1 in 2005 and 1 in 2006
Meds currently taking: 1mg Risperidone, 150mg Effexor XR, 100mg Minocycline.

SYMPTOMS:
Past month: experiencing constant head ache/pain (only goes away when sleeping)

Experiencing past 2.5 weeks after a concussion:
- strong constant head pain (dizziness, throbbing, shooting pains, brain feels wobbly, brain feels lifeless at times around the forehead area)
- body feels hot and cold simultaneously
- penis feels cold and numb
- stomach hurts constantly and feels gross at times
- on and off chest pain
- exhaustion, no energy
- entire body experiences muscle and joint pain
- diarrhea (brown or green), solid stool at times

Experiencing past week:
- blurred vision
- sleeping 12-15hrs a day
- entire body feels frozen, penis and testicles even feel frozen, wind chills through the bones
- trouble breathing, breathing through mouth requires large breaths
- spine feels twisted (painful)

Please please help, I feel so bad all day, I am in pain. 3.5 weeks ago I had a couple small wounds (size of the tip of a pen) on the toe that healed slowly (1 week) I called my doctor he said I could have gotten an infection, that's why I feel this way? And for the pain I've been experiencing to just take Tylenol, I have been taking Tylenol for the past 3.5 weeks 4 times a day and it does not help. Please help me.

Thank you so much, John.

You need to go to the doctor and have them do some blood work! Tell them you want a CBC!!

I am sorry you are feeling so crappy but not sure how you can get yourself into the hospital or the ER on socialized medicine. But if it were me I would go to a hospital ER or camp out at the doctors office until they did blood work or gave me some logical answer as to why you are feeling so badly. It doesn't sound normal and if your doctor thinks you have an infection then the at the very least you should be on an antibiotic. Good luck don't wait weeks to be seen just insist you really need help...write down all that you are feeling and what is happening and READ it to the doctor so you don't forget to tell them everything you have said here.

Try an anti-inflammatory such as Advil or Motrin instead of Tylenol. It will help the pain much better than tylenol. Then get yourself to another doctor right away. Good luck!

Yes, definitely get a CBC and stop taking all that Tylenol! That much is going to do a lot WORSE to you than any good.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'm really scared. I just did some research on "Posttraumatic Hypersomnia".. it kinda explains why I've been sleeping so much following my concussion.. "Posttraumatic Hypersomnia is excessive sleepiness that develops as the result of physical injury or disease in the central nervous system. For example, a brain injury, neurosurgery, infection, or spinal cord injury. Typcially, hypersomnia usually goes away over weeks or months"

the thing is, I've been to 2 different hospitals and they say thats its just the after effects of the concussion and it will get better in a week. But each day it's getting worse. The last hospital I visited, I brought along with me a list as I posted above, and even with that the student doctor only performed a medical and asked me to go home. I feel hopeless. I'm so tired and I keep sleeping. It says "Posttraumatic Hypersomnia" is related to brain injury (concussion), I dont know if I should see a neurologist or anything, my spine feels twisted even in the laying position.

Hi there.

I second the Motrin idea. Other than that, I'm not particularly knowledgeable about this situation you're in. However, I did have a friend who experienced very bad (and some similar) side effects after having a bad cold. She thought she was going to die, it was that bad, and the doctors kept sending her back, unsure of what was wrong. Now she's fine. Take action, but please try not to worry.

That said, this sounds bad, and I hope you start feeling much better. Keep us posted on what happens, okay?

John...Seems like all the headaches, etc...started after your head injury...maybe you should ask a doctor to do some x-rays or an MRI of your head.....I sure hope you find some answers soon...so that you can get better and go out and enjoy the world....
