I went to the dermatologist for an awful itch on my shoulder that has been going on for months!! A week before my appt there was a dry patch of skin. So i was diagnosed with mild excema. Does this ever go away? and how do you get it. The ointment helps.........but i dont see it getting any better. How long can something like this last? It is insanly itchy and driving me insane!

I can tell you what the pediatrician said about my daughter..she has had eczema since birth...she will most likely grow out of it since she got it as an infant, but the way he described is if you get it as a teen or adult, then there is not much chance of it going away. we have used all the creams, oatmeal baths and meds...her is now getting better (she's2 now) what helped her the most is she had to take zyrtec, singulair and hydroxizine for about 9 months. now she take singulair only......if it is only on your shoulder, just try cetophil cream. works really well. there is another cream ..aqua something or another....that i heard works good too. didnt try that one since cetophil seemed to being to the job

good luck!!!!
