Just diagnosed with T2 diabetes about two weeks ago. Have had health anxiety for years and with this diagnosis it went into overdrive. Everytime I read up on it and read about all the complications that may be coming down the road I start crying and getting all worked up about it. I have made an appointment with a pshycologist to talk about it but not sure that's going to help. I guess I should be thankful it's not something worse. Thanks for listening.

Linda, I have Type 2 diabetes also and I'm so sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with it. I had anxiety and panic attacks before I got the diabetes and I'll tell you, it has thrown me into a major tizzy. It has sent my anxiety and panic through the roof. I think there is hardly a worse disease that can be bestowed upon a person with anxiety than diabetes. It's every minute of every day, every bite of food, every drink of anything other than water, it's truly exhausting. I know they say it can be controlled but I'm having big time problems. I NEVER want to go on insulin and am so afraid I'll have to in the not too distant future. In fact, tonight I've gotten myself so worked up over having it that my head is aching, I'm dizzy, and just generally feel horrid. Also, I'm so afraid to do the testing for fear of how high the number will be that I rarely test anymore. I know, I know, I'm only harming myself but if my anxiety gets any worse I really cannot deal with either condition. I think it's good that you're going to talk to someone about it. Many people do just fine with this condition. Good Luck to you and let me know how you're doing. I assume, since you're posting on this board, that you suffer from anxiety, too? It's a real bummer, isn't it? Oh, btw, I was diagnosed with diabetes just over 5 years ago.
