Hi everyone,

I am pretty new to the boards..well,I have been reading for a while.

I am 28 years old and was diagnosed with Meniere's about 8 years ago. I am on diazide and the occasional meclizine. Now the bad vertigo spells only come about once every 5 months which is great.

However, lately I have been having this "odd dizziness". Its like my head feels heavy or there is a thunderstorm going on up there. I feel bad when I sit still, things seem really off balance. However, no real vertigo. When I move around I am okay. Its only if I have to focus on something while not moving. I had a spell like this for a few months beginning of this year but it stopped. Now its back. I really don't understand what this could be. I have issues with Anxiety also...could this be related or is this just a natural progression of menieres?

I had my eyes, my atlas bone and vitamin deficiancies checked out...nothing. Anybody have an clue?

Thanks Everyone!

Hi TinyWings,

I don't know much about Meniere's so I'm sure there are others who will be able to help you more.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if anxiety could cause symptoms like yours or if anxiety can be caused by Meniere's?

I guess in either case the answer is yes. Dizziness (caused by a physical problem) can definitely bring about anxiety. And anxiety in turn can make the symptoms worse.

Check with your doctor but I truly believe it's important to treat acute anxiety. It'll just make you feel much worse and hinder your recovery.

Hello;

I trust you've had MRI to rule out acoustic neuroma? AN does usually manifest in dizziness and not true vertigo, or, your dizziness could be a progression of the already diagnosed MM, aka, there could be sustained middle/inner ear damage as a rsult of several attacks? Maaybe a medication side effect?

ACtually I have not since according to my neurologist I am so "textbook meniere's". Now I am thinking I should really have an MRI done pronto. Is acoustic neuroma common? Ick! :(
