I am on generic lisinopril and from time to time the manufacturer changes. On one variety my evening BP is fine. On another - the one i'm having this month, it tens to spike in the evenings - has gone up to 153/101 and 157/103 - not so good - and that is with the diltiazem too. I do find that when my BPis higher I'm more prone to anginal-type chest pain.

Has anyone else found variation between brands?

I've been on generic Labetalol for 4 yrs. There was a time when my b/p was higher than normal for no reason. After about 2 wks I checked with the pharmacist who said no other clients were complaining. Not too many patients are on this particular drug so there wouldn't be too many people to complain in the first place.

I asked to be switched to another manufacturer which it turned out Kroger pharmacy is not able to do. It seems they have to take whatever the drug supplier gives them. I had had the same manufacturer for 2 yrs at that point with no problem.

Eckerd pharmacy was able to get the drug from another manufacturer. Walgreens said they could probably get it but it was a lot of paper work etc.

Since I had just gotten a new bottle of meds, I had to call my insurance to get their okay.

The new med worked better right away but remember Lebetalol is one of those drugs that does decrease b/p faster than most & doesn't have to accumulate in the body first.

If you get your drug from another manufacturer, it may take a few days for your b/p gets back to normal.
