My mom is 77. She has had arthritis for years. She had a knee replacement about 4 years ago due to severe arthritis. The other knee hurts and she will probably have that one done in the next year. She has arthritis in her shoulder, as well. Lately she has been in extreme pain. X-rays this week revealed that her lower back is full of arthritis.
For pain, she just takes Naprosyn or Tylenol. After seeing her back, the doctor gave her Tylenol 3 but she hasn't taken those yet. She also takes meds for blood pressure & thyroid but is otherwise healthy.
What options are out there for those that suffer this much? Are there some drugs she should try out? The doctor suggested injections (she doesn't remember what he would inject) and physical therapy. She will not have back surgery.
Thanks for any advice or opinions.
