View Full Version : Blood sugar normal or high?

I did have one reading last year that was 226. However, after that, my glucose was very good and level, usually somewhere from 80-99 before meals, and 90-112 after meals, suggesting that this was most likely a fluke.

Now, recently, my blood sugar has been a bit higher. About two Fridays ago, my glucose was 149 about an hour after eating one fruit role up. I hadn't eaten anything for many hours before that. My sugar would have never gone that high even an hour after food before. Then in the mornings it's generally somewhere from 105-107 before I eat. Yesterday it was 136 about three hours after eating, and today 160 two or three hours after eating. Unfortunately I don't remember all the readings. What I do know is that both my parents are diabetic. I am 18 years old and female.

Is this high?

Honestly, if you're concerned you may have diabetes you need to have lab work done. As you said, finger stick glucoses can be "flukey."

That being said, the readings you mention don't sound bad, except maybe the 160. Fruit roll up is sticky and I wonder if you didn't have sugar on your fingers still.

Why are you testing, anyways?

I was testing because of a high reading I had at the hospital at one point...I don't really feel comfortable mentioning why I was at the hospital. It was at the hospital that my sugar was 149.

Hi Everybody

My blood sugar, I try to keep at 140 high and 100 low. I know that is high but I have other heath problems. My doctor even agrees I should keep it at those levels.

When my levels go over 200, I have eaten the wrong foods and have to straighten out what I eat. One person said why test anyway. It gives you an idea of whether you are high, low or just right. Otherwise, you can go way high without knowning it.
