tamuprof,
I have been taking garlic supplements for about 9 months. My main reason for taking them are the many benefits they have, not a blood pressure reduction specifically. I have a very high blood pressure so any reduction they might bring about would seem tiny and insignificant. It would also be impossible for me to detect. I believe they help with the blood pressure. They also help reduce the inflammation. I've had a lot of success with that. I also use Omega 3 fish oil, flaxseed, apple cider vinegar, all known to reduce inflammation. I've achieved a very impressive reduction of inflammation markers over a period of several months, leaving my doctor puzzled and disbelieving. He concluded that the antihypertensives must have caused it. Wrong! I have my supplements and diet to thank for that reduction. I've heard from people whom I know personally that garlic (fresh) helped them get off the BP meds. They use it INSTEAD of the meds fo BP control. Perhaps raw garlic is much more potent than the supplements. I gag on it when I try to eat it raw. I use it in cooking as much as possible, though. It would be nice to hear from someone who's had a blood pressure reduction using garlic.
