Hi. I was on zoloft for almost 3 years, then i went off it this year in May, and I was fine up until recently, iīve started to get depressed, i say depressed but i donīt know if itīs really depression or just kinda down and sad. When I first started taking it I did took it for anxiety. I always remained at a very low dose, which was 25 mg, never wanted to take more than that. Anyway, I felt it helped with the anxiety somewhat but maybe not enough to have to keep taking it, and my husband suggested i try to stop taking it, with the advice of my doctor. so i did. but now Iīve been feeling like i should take it again, not just for the anxiety for also for feeling blue. I donīt want to take it. But I want to be happier. I might not be any less sad if I do take it. I donīt know. Also if I do go back on it, maybe it doesnīt have to be zoloft, it could be something else, there are so many nowadays. Do you guys know which has the lowest or least side effects? Which is the most beneficial and effective towards anxiety? Is it bad to take antidepressants for the body and mind? Thanks for any advice. ;)

Hi:

Everyone reacts differently to different medications so it is hard to say which AD has the lowest side effects, if there was a poll taken chances are Wellbutrin will win but this med can send an anxiety issue over the roof. Nobody really knows how bad ADs are for you long term as a lot of the newer meds have not been out that long and for the most part most people do not take them for that long. They are not risk free but if you do your homework and take them the way they are prescribed the risk is really low.

I agree...there are a lot of ADs to try. Maybe it will take some time to find one that suits you. Though....you didn't mention why you didn't want to stay on zoloft. Was it side effects? Or just the idea of being on something? I wouldn't say it's bad to take ADs for the body and mind. Why would it be? A lot of people try and take the "suck it up" attitude with mental issues, which to me is sort of silly. If it helps, take it.

Yes I stopped taking the zoloft bc I didnīt like the idea of "being on something". I mentioned to my husband that i was kinda thinking about going back on it and he said whatever i want, itīs really up to me. so i donīt know. today i woke up in a better mood, but weīll see, iīm gonna wait a couple more days and see how i feel. I also need it for social anxiety and phobia. which is the biggest issue of why i started to take it in the first place. anyway please keep the replies coming. thanks.
