Thank you so much for asking! It was great! :)

Got many hugs & good wishes from staff & clients. Such a warm & touching welcome, I almost cried. It's so good to be back! It almost feels as if I'd never left.
I had a nausea/vomiting episode last night & this morning. My stomach hurt & the nausea got worse and worse...I had little to eat for dinner. Good, healthy stuff. Geez. I was so glad I put off taking the meds this morning until just before I left for work at 7:30. After only a couple of sips of coffee I found myself in trouble. I didn't know a little bit of coffee on an empty stomach could make a person sick. I have to inform myself what the triggers for GERD are. Can the BP medication be a primary cause of GERD?
I now worry about my bum knee, of all things! I also have what the doc says are cysts on both of my shins which kind of look like an upright string of small beads. This is also new. I hope they are not some calcium or uric acid deposits. He says I'll have an ultrasound for that. I wonder if these things are the side effects of my meds. If you read my other post, it explains the knee problem.
I feel almost back to normal. I am so much better, compared to just a couple of weeks ago. My breathing has improved significantly. I had no problems with it today. :) I think the PPIs really help with the nausea and the breathing. My blood pressure has been perfect (it spiked pretty high last night).

take care,

Oh FLowergirl,

I am so very, very, very happy for you!!!! I know everyone is happy to have you back! And I do hope you won't forget about us.

Hope your GERD situation improves...as with your knees. But you're aware of what's going on (that is to say you know your own body) so you'll figure something out with the help of your doctors.

But again, so happy to hear it went well...and I'm sure it'll only get better!!

((((Hugs))))

Thank you for the hugs and for thinking of me. :) With any luck, my life will slowly return to the way it used to be. It looks like I will be able to pull it off.
Have a nice trip! We will miss your posts.
I am so glad things worked out for you and you are now pain and med-free. One cannot ask for more. I like your attitude and optimism, and the fact that you so willingly share your experiences with others. Get back safely!

PS. I just read your other post in which you mentioned a loss of a family member. Your going away is not a happy occassion. I am so sorry for your loss!

FG,

Your nausea & vomiting are worrisome. Of course, I always think of potassium problems first because of the diuretics. But then you have the acid reflux issue.

I think you need to consider stopping coffee because of the caffeine & the other chemicals in it. It is a strong irritant to the stomach. Now that you have to take meds your stomach is just more vulnerable. I know how are it is to give up your coffee. I had to do it when I was only 24 & I loved it. At that time I got heart palpitations so badly one night at a fair that I just went "cold turkey.) I tried it several yrs later & the same thing happened. Even decaf does the same thing cause of the other chemicals in coffee.

Decaf tea is easier on the stomach. I find Lipton black tea even calms my stomach at times if I eat the wrong thing. Prevention magazine said tea is relaxing which I find. Maybe because I associate tea with all the tea parties my friends & I had at college.

Also the garlic capsules can be a problem too. I can't even touch garlic which I love. I used to be able to eat a little garlic powder on food before meds. Love the smell. Dr. Oz keeps promoting garlic.

I'll think about those cysts on your knee & the stuff on your shin. Maybe I could check my derm book.

Hi Fam,

thank you for your response. Because I have to leave fairly early in the morning, I can't eat anything. If I had some fruit or nuts before having that coffee, (as I usually did, but later in the day) I'd be fine. I don't eat anything until much later on my break. I guess there goes my daily oatmeal. I figure my stomach is sensitive. I had tea for a change this morning and sipped it slowly and cautiously. I started getting nauseous again. So I stopped drinking it rightaway and this time I didn't get sick. I have to learn what does and does not agree with me.

I've never had any problems with my knees of any kind. My right knee seems to bother me mostly in the evenings, for periods of time and with every step. It's unpleasant but it does not hurt. The only thing that scares me about this is a possibility of some type of permanent damage or developing arthritis from the meds. I'll try to forget about it. I thought the other things could be varicose veins. No one's ever had any in my family going back generations. The only problem with that theory is that the small, even bumps in a straight line up my shins don't look like varicose veins at all. The doc did some gravity test & pressed & probed and said they were not veins. I guess I should forget about them. I don't want to see the doctor until my prescriptions have run out 3 months from now. As you can imagine, I am somewhat tired of doctors offices and all things medical by now.
I always drink tea in the evenings (black or green only) for its antioxidant properties. I wonder how well I'll be able to adhere to my diet. Have to figure out how to cook quick & nutritious 15 minute dinners. I won't be buying frozen prepared foods from M&Ms anymore, that's for sure. Stir-fried food is easy but hubby won't eat it more than once a week.
