I was wondering if anyone would be able to answer a question for me. Since this past Friday I have been experiencing chest pain. I have noticed that I have been drinking more coffee lately. I'm not sure if this change could have that kind of effect. I'm thinking and hoping that it is anxiety-related and nothing more serious. I am also considering contacting my PCP for an EKG.
I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this symptom. I have had chest pain in the past, but I was also taking diet pills. This is no longer the case, as I have not taken those pills since March 2007.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I wouldn't mess around with it and contact your physician and get an EKG. I did have chest pain when my eating was terrible and I was exercising a lot and consuming too much caffeine; I also had mild brachycardia or maybe tachycardia (can't remember which one). It didn't warrant hospitalization, but it was worrying. I can't tell what caused it though--the malnutrition, the overexercise, or too much caffeine; probably a combination of all 3.
Please do see your doctor. Get some blood tests run to check your electrolytes as well because if your potassium is low, it can affect your heart.

Last time I had random chest pains I went to the doctors and they said it was anxiety.... go to your doctor. Don't mess around with that one.

I suggest like the others~Go to the doctor. ED play havoc on our electrolytes and our heart is regulated by those electrolytes. A girlfriend of mine is in her early 40 and has been taking heart medication for years because of the damage she'd done to her heart. I also suggest that you be 100% honest with your doctor about your ED if you haven't already.

thanks for the suggestions. I became honest with my PCP about my eating disorder last year so he is on board with this information. I also contacted my PCP's office today and I am scheduled for an appointment on Saturday. Thanks again for the support and for the suggestions.
