For a little over a year now, I wake up in the morning with both of my ears wet. Some kind of fluid drains from my ears during the night. I dont know what is causing it. I feel the stuff draining at night and I catch myself scratching the inside of my ears when I am sleeping.
What is this? How do I get it to stop?

Do you shower at night, before you go to bed? You also may just be retaining liquid in the ear from when you shower in the morning if you do not shower at night.

Some thing you can try is rinse your ears out with swimear medication (50 (isopropanol) : 50 (distilled vinegar)) after showering. Also get an ear wax removal kit and use that as instructed. Three main things can cause what you are experiencing that I have experience with are:
(1) hole or rupture of the ear drum allowing for inner ear fluid leak [PAINFUL if it is a ruptured ear drum, If you have an Ear Tube you would expect this when inner ear pressure is high],
(2) leakage of retained water from shower, swimming, etc ,
(3) Thin ear wax production and drainage as a response to allergen irritation of the sinuses.

Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
MG
