Hi I am new to this board. I am 43 years old and have always had very regular periods. In the last few months though the cycle has been shorter....they used to be 28 days and then they went to around 16 days. Then this last month it was even shorter.(the cycle) My periods are also longer and heavier. It seems this last month I have been menstruating for at least 14 days total from the 2 periods. I have no other sign of perimenopause and am wondering if this is just the beginning. I have an appointment for my annual well care in November. Should I try to get in before hand? Is this a normal sign? Thanks!

It can be a sign of peri., but get it checked out at your next visit. Tee.

Hi,
This is exacltly how I stared. Shorter periods, some only 2 weeks apart, but usually 18-21 days apart. This went on for a couple of years. I did get checked out and was being monitored by my GYN during this time. Then this summer, I had one that never really stopped. I was bleeding for about 38 days, so I got thoroughly checked out (lots of test to rule out anything other than Peri).
It just came down to hormonal issues, which are 'normal' during this time. I'm now taking provera to regulate my cycles. It's working very well, with no bad side effects.
Hope this helps.
Mary
