For the past 2 months my blood pressure has not been under 135/80. Most of the time it averages from 140/80 all the way up to 171/98. I am a 19 year old male, 5-8 205 lbs, and am on my feet most of the day so i do get excercise, and i am not that overweight either. What is wrong?

Unless you are a bodybuilder, 5' 8" 205 lbs is well into the overweight category re the BMI.

I am 5' 11" and I was overweight at 197 lbs. I dropped 21 lbs in last 6 months, and hope to drop 10 more, getting me into the "normal" range of the BMI.

Calculate your BMI and see how much weight you may need to lose. I mention this because the BMI correlates very strongly with BP! MY BP dropped from 140s/90s to 120s/130s over 70s when I lost 21 lbs. Still a little too high, but weight loss makes a difference.

Stress My Dear And I Think You Better Get Rid Of That. I Am 55 And I Have High Blood Pressure That My Heart Doctor Cannot Control And I Got 3 Meds Already And Still High. Why They Cannot Contorl It, Well I Told Them Pay My Bills And My Mortgage And My Stress Will Go Away And My High Blood Pressure Will Go Back To Normal.

Being so young with high blood pressure must be terrible. I can’t imagine how you must feel. Everyone has a different idea as far as what over weight is. I would ask your DR. this question. I would never ever suggest going on any blood pressure medications. The side effects are terrible. Unfortunately sometimes we have to take them. I do however; recommend trying natural ways to lower your pressure. I would suggest maybe starting a diet. I have been on the Dash diet for a while. It has changed my life. I also use this device called the resperate. The device uses breathing excurses to naturally lower my blood pressure. I think it will be wise to try some of these methods. Let me know how it works out for you.;)

Some times it's genetics, what about your parents? Both my parents have/had it, and while my sister seems to have escaped it, I have not and for the most part, I figured I've had it all my adult life. Didn't start taking meds for it until my 30's. What's even more dissappointing for me is that I'm in relatively great shape, 6'2" 190lbs 10% body fat and still have to take multiple meds. It's all over the place all the time, usually low at night, high in the mornings. I work out on a regular basis too, try to watch what I eat, all the good stuff you try to work on, go figure...

There are so many reasons why a person can have high blood pressure. Sometimes it is because of things you can not control. It can be something in your your genes. However there are reasons you can control. I had previously mentioned several ways. You have no idea how important ones diet is. This really contributes to your pressure. I would take advantage of the fact that you are young. Keep in mind that exercising isn’t the only thing you can do to be healthy. Try relaxing, take yoga classes. The resperate is awesome ( trust me ) ! Take a long walk on the beach! I know this sounds corny, but the mind is def. connected to your health. In any event, I hope this works out for you! Good Luck!;)
