Actual script written is Gonadotroin, chorionic, Human. I'm wondering what to expect from these shots. I'll be taking them after the IUIs on 3 dpo, 6 dpo, and 9 dpo. Also, will these affect HPT on 14 dpo? I'm worried they may still be in my system and read a false positive.
Any successful BFPs out there on this stuff?
Hmm .. all these view yet no advice. Starting to feel like a lab rat that my RE may be experimenting on. No one has HCG shots like this?

yigo, I would love to help you but I have always taken my HCG before IUI so I am not sure what advice to give you. Good luck though and I hope you get BFP
Isnt that the trigger shot? Thats normally being taken before the IUI, cuz thats what tells the ovaries to release the eggs. Never heard of it being repeated in the same month. I think you should ask your doctor what is this for.
Good luck,
Mady

Hi Yigo......Mady's right, that's a trigger shot. I went surfing on the net to see if I could find out anything for you and everthing I found suggested that Hcg is given before IUI. I'm not really very familiar with it, but if I am understanding what I read correctly, then hcg is supposed to induce ovulation. Maybe there is another benefit to it that your Dr is familiar with. I would definitely call him/her and ask about it. I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you. I'm very curious about this now though. If you call your Dr and find out anything please let me know.

Yigo........I think I replied too soon. I just came across something online that referred to an hcg shot being taken after IUI to assist with implantation. The article stated that supposedly it helps with progesterone production which helps keep the lining soft and ready for implantation. Do you have a problem with your progesterone level? A short luteal Phase? If you do that could be the reason your Dr prescribed another shot. I would definitely still call and ask your Dr. And I'm still curious so be sure and let me know what your Dr. says.
Thanks,
Jenna
Thanks for the help investigating. I only have internet through local library so this help IS appreciated.
On my second cycle my b/w showed hormone levels drop too quickly after the IUIs. Tested on 4 and 9 dpo to compare. 4 dpo expect 20 actual 11 , 9 dpo expected 11 actual 2
That's when I was precribed 3 HCG shots, 3 dpo, 6dpo and 9 dpo. I will ask my RE nurse if this will lead to a false positive on HPT tests when I go for the IUI.

Yigo, Since you will be taking the hcg throughout your cycle, I think what they will probably do is repeat the beta test to see the trend is upward and hopefully doubling! So be prepared for two betas to confirm your BFP! Good luck!!!!!!

I am not very familiar with taking the HCG more than once a cycle either, because I only take it to trigger O, but am assuming that like my shot, it would stay in your system so would not recommend doing HPT because it may give a false positive, especially if you are taking it more than once. I would just wait for the beta quant to decide. I know easier said than done. :jester: Besides, my RE told me NOT to do any HPT and just wait for the beta so I would not get my hopes up or down for that matter. I am wishing you all the luck in the world. Perhaps you are on to something ;)
