I had a ct scan here are some of what the report stated that I do not understand. Surgical clips in the left lower quadrant along the anterior abdominal wall within the peritoneal cavity. No adnexal mass identified. Free fluid projects within the cul-de-sac and right adnexa. I had L-5 S-1 dics removal 4 months ago could this have anything to do with micodiscectomy surgery? I had the ct scan because I thought i had kidney stone because of left flank and lower abdominal pain. I am still in pain. what does all this mean? please help TAMMY5 thanks in advance.

those are very odd results. i am not a doctor but, when you had surgery , did they leave something inside you like a rod, bracket etc? it is saying surgical clips, i dont know what that means other than something they do in surgery, like a clamp. it is in the peritoneal cavity, which i think means in your abdomen. Do you know of having any surgical clips in your peritoneal cavity?? If they are not supposed to be there, I would imagine they would hurt. how long until your follow up appt???

ok sorry to scare you, had to look up surgical clips and here is what i found:
used to sell "surgical clips" and I feel pretty confident in saying that they are not the cause of the pain. It is true that sometimes scar tissue will form around them and that adhesions can attach to them, but the clips themselves will not cause pain. They are the most commonly used implant and are used in procedures ranging from aortic aneurysms to pediatrics. They are made out of titanium which is the most non-reactive metal that is used in the body. They range in size from very tiny to about the size of a staple.
so they are talking about a type of suture

Thanks Jen for reply I was not told after back surgery that i had any type of metal as far as i remember i was told that they used desolving sutures. thats why i am confused about ct scan results. also i dont understand what free fluid that projects within the pelvic cul-de-sac and right adnexa means. am i supposed to have free fluid in my pelvic cul-de-sac ? thanks in advance

free fluid in the cul de sac does not sound like a bad thing to me, but again, im not a doc, only some medical training. right adnexa is just an appendage they are referring to, probably ovary.
