Hello, we are still up at Duke. My daughter is having an MRI/MRV done as I type. They did a ton of labs and of course we won't have any of those results for a couple of weeks. One interesting note; they did another doppler study and said the clot behind her knee was gone??? It was there last wednesday and now its gone; I just dont' get it; if her body absorbed it that quickly; why didn't it absorb the others below the knee? The only other possibility is that is moved into her pelvis area; but they didn't seem too concerned. We are taking it as good news for now. I guess you could say we are cautiously optimistic. The reason for the MRI is because at her previous MRI in the middle of August there was some inflammation in the muscle and they are trying to figure out if the inflammation caused the blood clot or did the blood clot cause the inflammation.

Any thoughts?

Hi hun! I was thinking about you earlier today, wondering if you and your daughter were at Duke and had any answers. I went through a CT scan after I was diagnosed. It tends to show a lot more than the ultrasound does, as I'm sure a MRI does. Hopefully that will shed some light on exactly where her blood clots are and if they have moved. Have they scanned her lungs at all? One of thing things they did for me was a CT scan to make sure nothing had traveled to my lungs, and thankfully nothing had. Honestly I don't remember ever hearing anything about inflammation and my blood clot, so I don't have any words of wisdom on that. :( But I am sure you're getting the best treatment you possibly can, and I hope that you can come away with lots of answers and a plan on how to treat her condition!

Please do let me know how things go. I'm so glad to hear from you and that you're getting treatment. *BIG HUGS* Hang in there, even though I know it's harder than anything.

The dr called this afternoon and we still have no answers. Her MRI/MRV was normal; thankfully there were no masses seen and the inflammation seen her previous MRI was gone. Not all the bloodwork is back yet but what has come back is normal. I have a feeling we aren't going to find out a reason for her blood clots. But no news is good news right? The dr said she would call us when the rest of the bw comes back and maybe next month we could try Coumadin again and wean off the Lovenox.

You're right, no news is good news :) *HUGS* I honestly believe, even if everything comes back negative and there's not medical reason given for her clot, that it could have come from her being on birth control pills. Even though she wasn't on them at the time of the clot, it takes a while for homeones to get out of your system (in my opinion of course lol) so I just think maybe if it's all said and done, it could be that. Have your doctors mentioned BC pills being the cause at all?

I'm so glad you got an update. I've been thinking of you both. I hope that your daughter can get off of the Lovenox and on Coumadin and get going from there. It does take a while to get the Coumadin regulated, believe me. It took me 6 months or more to get my INR levels evened out, so don't be surprised if it doesn't for her as well. Coumadin is tricky stuff because it's really just a guessing game as far as dosages go.

As always, *BIG HUGS* I look forward to hearing from you again. Take care of yourself! *HUGS*
