this is very scary to me, i dont even have to make a bm for this to happen, it just seems to happen, but, ive noticed a connection to this when i take my pain meds, such as either ibuprofen or a low dose of lortab, i am in such pain, but im afraid to use them for fear of of this bleeding, i have had a colonoscopy & a recent sigmoidoscopy, nothing was seen except hemroids, but the bleeding is very severe(almost like the sound of urinating) & goes on 15, 20, even up to 30 mins!! anyone have ANY sugestions? or no of a pain med that wont cause this? seen 2 drs.,they dont seem to concerned!!

If you're bleeding that bad, you should get it checked out! Go to the emergency room if you have to! If it's that bad I can't understand why the doctors aren't concerned!
Yikes! I almost posted a link to my cancer journal site on here. I forgot for a minute that we can't!

hi, its that bad, but i have been checked, two drs. just say its my hemorrhoids, but the only thing i noticed, if i take a pain pill, eg: ibuprofen or lortab, between 1 to 3 days later, im bleeding like crazy!! im 47 yrs. old, this all started about maybe 2 yrs. ago, i used to be able to take these meds, i only take when i cant take the pain any longer, i DO NOT like to take anything, i dont like meds at all, & i have never miss used any thing, & i have no history of alcohol or drugs, my grandfather had colon cancer, he was in his late 60s, if you could tell me more info, maybe im or the drs. are missing something, i would sure appreciate it.

It could be a lot of things. Have they checked for ulcers? I don't know if you can bleed rectally from ulcers or not, but it's worth asking the question. If you are not satisfied with what your doctors say be diligent until you find out FOR SURE what is causing this. I had rectal bleeding. I had NUMEROUS tumor biopsies and all came back negative. I was still stage IV (the biopsy readings ALL came back wrong). I'm not trying to scare you. Just get it checked out for your own peace of mind -- even if it means a trip to the ER. Just my 2 cents.

Does the bleeding sound like you're urinating the whole 15, 20 or 30 minutes?
Do you get severely light headed? I wouldn't monkey around with this. My best friend just lost her brother-in-law due to a perforated colon because of cancer. He woke up one day in extreme pain, thought he was just constipated, took 12 laxatives & went to bed. The next day he was bleeding heavily from the rectum & hadn't had a BM. He went to the ER, went into a coma that night & died the next day from sepsis. His colon cancer was so advanced that it put a hole in his colon & leaked waste into his body. He didn't even know he had cancer. He just thought he was having indigestion. I'd take the results from your tests & get a second opinion. Or take your Ibuprofen & Lortab, wait 1-3 days & go straight to the ER when you start bleeding. Probably should get someone else to drive you in case you get light headed from the blood loss.

you can get abdominal bleeding from pain meds such as ibuprofen. I know and have had it. It goes straight through me and comes out through the rectum. I also have internal hemorrhoids so that can complicate the diagnosis. BUT with the pain meds I have burning and pain in my abdomen so I know it's the meds and NOT the hemorrhoids causing the bleeding. You might want to consider having an upper GI test or endoscope to rule out ulcers or any bleeding in the upper gastric area. Best of luck to you and I hope you can get some resolution soon.

My bleeding isn't as bad as that but it's persistent and every day with a BM.
I was diagnosed with small first degree piles in July on Protoscopy and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy. These hemmoroids at first used to bleed for a few days and then go for a week or two and then come back. I wasn't too bothered about them and hoped they would go away for good at some point.
But in the last month the bleeding has been with every bowel movement. It would be bright red blood on the tissue, blood coating one or two stools and sometimes drops of blood in the toilet. All this usually happens at the end of my bowel movements.
I don't have constipation, in fact my stools are usually soft and sometimes even flaky as I suffer from IBS. I used to go to the loo once a day but now go about 2 or 3 times as the anxiety of knowing I might bleed sets off my IBS.
Two good Gastro surgeons don't seem to be concerned but I have forcefully scheduled a Colonoscopy just in case.
Am I going over the top? Should I be concerned if hemmorhoids are bleeding with every bowel movement? Is that normal? Can it be cancer?
