I am on Sandoz brand duragesic patches. I have tried calling the company to get the dressings, but they do not do it. Should I try to get my pharmacy to get another brand or should I get my doctor to order name brand only? I know I can't afford the dressingsa, at $100 a box, so I am at a loss. Can someone give me some advice?????

This worked great for me, might also work for you.
I used the "extra large tough strips" brand aid brand bandaids. They are EXACTLY bigenough to cover a 25mcg patch all by themselves. I had to put the patch backwards onto the bandaid and then apply to my skin - worked like a charm. It moves with your skin and doesnt "crinkle". Water just rolls right off it. Once you put that on your skin, trust me, its not going ANY where.
If you need a bigger patch you can always use 1 of the large band aids and then 1 more small one. These are like $2 a box.

I use the Tegaderm dressing covers. They are normally like $7.49 for an 8 count box. However, my last trip to CVS I was looking and CVS has their own brand of Tegaderm patches. They are $6 for an 8 count box so that is around .75 cents a piece which isn't too bad. I figure spending $1.50 a week on covers is affordable. I also saw the Tegaderm dressing covers at Walrgreen although they are more pricey. If you don't have a CVS or Walgreens close by then you can go to a Medical Supply Store or small pharmacy and they should have them. Hope the info helps.

What size Duragesic/Fentanyl patches are you using? The solution depends on what will physically cover your patches. The 12.5 - 50 mcg's are small enough that you can use large bandaids, but the 75's and 100s will require a different solution. I am lucky because I get the Duragesic brand 100 mcg patch and the company sent me 3 boxes of 50 count overlays. I've also ordered overlays from the internet that worked well at a reduced price over what you will pay in the drug stores. Again, what strength/size are you using? Memere
