View Full Version : Does Coloring Your Hair Make Your Cfs Worse?

I colored my gray hair for about 6 years. I had a really bad year with my CFS about 5 years ago & I wondered if it was from the chemicals in the hair dye. I stopped coloring it then & didn't start again until June of this year. Dyed it twice & then the end of August I had such a bad flare that I ended up in the hospital for depression. Do you think there's a link somewhere?

Your story is interesting to me because I've noticed that if I use certain products on my hair or skin I'll experience really weird sensations. For instance, I had to stop using shaving foam on my face because I noticed that everytime I did, I would start feeling tremendous bouts of anxiety and panic that would last for days. I mean, I really felt sick from it. I believe that I narrowed down to the aloe they put in there as the cause of it. In my research, I've read that aloe can be used to help CFS, but at the same time it can also cause severe flare ups in others.

It seems like a very individual thing, so if you notice that you're getting flare ups from using the hair dye, I would recommend staying away from it completely. That's basically the only solution, unfortunately.

Perhaps the ladies here can provide more information on trying different products that can do the job without all the unnecessary chemical?
