I received my mri results today and it states Impression: Degenerative C4-C5 Paracentral Disk Protrusion Associated with Uncinate Process Foraminal Narrowin on the Right. Can anyone translate this to normal terms for me? I am being referred to a specialist now and I am trying to become more educated with whatever is going on.

Thanks so much :)

Basically it sound like a bulging disk near the center which narrows the space for the right C5 nerve root. Could be causing a pinched nerve. C5 nerve root affects the shoulder and upper arm. Doesn't sound too bad from the MRI, but it really depends on your symptoms and how long they've been happening. You should be referred to a neurologist or neurosurgeon.

I just had ACDF at this level (C4-5 disk removed and replaced with bone and plate). I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op and doing pretty well. Going back to work on Monday.

Best wishes.

Don
