View Full Version : pulling legs into body

I hope this is not a "dumb" question, but I'm perplexed. My two month old has discovered her hands and constantly has her hands in fists. Occasionally, she'll pull her arms into her body (fists clenched), but now she will pull her legs into her body as well. She doesn't seem as though she's in pain. Is it possible that she's just discovered her legs as well? Maybe just working new muscles? It's happening more and more, and she just looks so odd to me. The best way I can describe it is though she is in the fetal position all over again...or that she is trying to make a bowel movement (minus the baby grunting). She doesn't cry, they are just more like spastic movements. Is this normal?? Thanks, Laura

My son is 3 1/2 months old and still curls up in the fetal position some. I'm sure it's normal. It never really seemed odd to me. *sigh* I wouldn't worry about it.

Just wait until she does it while your trying to change her diaper and all the parts are just "hanging out inthe wind"... lol! It seems that my daughter's favorite position is on her back with her hands pulling her feet and legs inward... usually to suck on a toe or two... and she's 10 months!

she may be trying to sit up! sounds silly at 2 months old. does she perfer it when you hold her upright versus laying on her bach or tummy? if so that may be what it is. my daughter did it all the time! i have a video of her at 5 days old doing it(sorta)aha its funny looking i know, alomost like they're pooing but they don't. even the face gets red! how cute. it won't be long! she sounds motivated! my daughters 71/2 months and starting to crawl already! and could stand supported at 31/2 months. sound to like your little girl is going to do everything early as well! good luck! once they're mobile you don't ever get a chance to just sit down!
