I was injuried at work while lifting in 1999.Ihad cervical fusion in 2001 and again in 2003.I just had a emg test and the results are carpal in both arms and nerve damage in both upper arms. What can I or should I do?The biggest problem is no sleep, this keeps me up and crying in pain every nite.

I think you'd want an MRI as well to see what's going on and why there are nerve problems. I am currently experiencing pain 17 mo post ACDF and it could be scar tissue near the nerve - I'm undergoing a series of 3 ESI again to see if that "calms" down the pain.

Kross is very right about needing that MRI.'something' is actually compressing/impinging nerves up there in your c spine, you just really do need to find out what that something is.it would most likely show up on an MRI.i don't think(from what you just stated) you actually really do have anything like real carpal tunnel syndrome, just that the nerves that actually run from your c spine make it appear that way, since you do also have the nerve flow issue in your upper arms as well, you know what i mean?but you DO have a most definite impingment or compression going on up there that needs identifying before anything else is actually "done' as far as any surgery for carpal tunnel or anything else as this would NOT solve the real problem from its little base of operations up in your c spine.just obtain that MRI soon, preferably with contrast,it just helps highlight certain areas much more clearly.depending on just what is found upon that MRI would dictate any next steps for you.just speak with your doc.you really DO have to have this done just to find the real problem up there.good luck and please keep us posted on how things are going for you,K?
