My poor husband has been plagued with cluster headaches for a couple of years now and they seem to be getting worse. He has tried vitamins, meds, has been to a neuroligist, oxygen...on and on ,but is still suffering 5 or more attacks per day that leave him exhausted. Lately, it's like he's afraid to leave the house. This weekend he is missing an opportunity to spend time with his 3 adult daughters. We are at a true crises point with this stabbing pain like an ice pick in the eye and I feel helpless. Is there a hospital or program somewhere he could check himself in and get some real help? I want to take him for emergency help. He shouldn't have to live like this!

YES! MOST DEFINITELY! Real help and they won't stop until they have helped. And if you have to travel half way across the US like I did it is worth it. The Diamond Headache Center and Research Offices, Chicago, Illinois. I saw the founder's daughter, Dr. Merle Diamond. There was also a male dr. if your husband would prefer a man, Dr. Fretieg. Good luck. Sheila

Did you find any help with the cluster headaches? I'm a cluster sufferer. You might also try the OUCH organization for a lot of helpful information.
I'm interested if you had success so please reply if you did.
Thanks!

My husband has just started taking topamax for the past 3 days. It takes 3 months to get to the regulated level, so he/we don't know. His headaches seem to be less intense. but last all day. I have noticed increased studdering which is a minor, but pre-existing part of his make up. Coffee in the afternoon and excedrin at bedtime seem to offer the best hope for relief. Although, I am talking about my husband, we all suffer together.
