my rheumatalogist put me on prozac 5 weeks ago. My numbness in my hands and foot are better but I am still very depressed, fatigued, and hurt when I sleep. Does anyone take anti-depressants for fibro or myofascial syndrome?
Let's pray for a cure this year!! Kathy

It seems to be the in vogue for doctors to treat FMS with antidepressants. Some have gotten some relief of their symptoms and a little more control of their lives from them. It usually takes a while to find the right formulation and doseage. Experimentation and patience are the keys. Not all are helped. We have two daughters. The doctor has been experimenting for three years now. The youngest when given either one that plays with the serotonin always gets depressed or when given one that plays with the dopamine the result is still depression but not as bad. Our other daughter seems to not have depression from the medication, but her usual reactions are increased pain. Just recently she tried Requip and at a low dosage. It seems to help her pain and allows her to sleep better. At higher dosages her symptoms flare.
They have tried Prozac, Mirapex and Paxil at different varying dosages in addition to the Requip mentioned above. The youngest is now trying Celexa at half the lowest recommend dosage. It is too early to tell about its effects.
