I am just waiting now for AF (I had missed my ovulation last month so am waiting to start another cycle) - but of course my body has to play tricks on me now, as it should have started this weekend. But anyhow...

I will be starting with injectibles - Gonal f/RFF and Ovidrel this week once I get the clear and then IUI for a couple more cycles before moving to IVF. I have an injection class tomorrow, but I am SO FREAKED OUT about giving myself injections. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to do it. Which is weird because I give injections all day long at work, and I am a good patient when it comes to getting injections. But, to have to do it to myself - I really don't know if I can. Sorry to sound like such a baby, but could anyone give any advice or if others that have gone through this could let me know how it is, I'd appreciate it!!!

Thanks!

I just had my first round of injectables with IUI on Thursday. My best advice (which is easier said than done I'm sure!) is to just do it. You can't sit and think about the shot, because then you'll end of psyching yourself out and it will be more difficult. Choose your injection site, and once you've got the needle or pen ready to go, just go for it...no second guessing or thinking about it.

I have complete faith you can do this! Just remember when you go to that class tomorrow that there is a reason. None of us would be so crazy to pump ourselves full of hormones and endure these crazy side effects if the ultimate goal wasn't a beautiful child of our own. It is 100% worth it in the end! Good Luck!!! - April

Hi! I agree w/ April. The hardest part about giving yourself an injection is getting the nerve to do it. If you can just do it w/o thinking, it will be over before you even have a chance to get scared. :) But if you do start to think about it and you think you're getting psyched out, just picture that beautiful baby lying in your arms in 9 months. It will be more than worth it. :D

Thanks!!!

I'm hoping that the class tonight will help alleviate some of my fears. I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions after the class, though!!

Still waiting for AF, ugh, but had injection class tonight. It was very informative. Just wanted to post a suggestion the nurse gave us (if this is common knowledge, forgive me): If you place ice on the injection site for 4 minutes straight, she swears that you will not feel the injection at all.

This was my first cycle doing injections, and not thinking about it definitely helped and doing it quick. If I thought, and paused, I would put it in slow or stop and go, and I would feel it. If I just didn't think and went fast I wouldn't feel it. Sometimes I sneak off when we have friends over so that I didn't have time to think about it...I would just race off, do it quick, and then it was over.
