View Full Version : HSG... Talk to me!

Okay.. So I disappeared for a while. My husband lost his job and then he started a new job, then I did and then he changed jobs. We have insurance now that covers all the way to IVF! :)

So tomorrow (Monday) I'm going for my bloodwork to ensure I'm not pregnant (I know I'm not but my dr always insists) and then I'll start either Provera or Promentrium to start my AF.

And I'll be scheduled for an HSG. I've been told it is just crampy and I'm hoping to go into work afterwards (I sit at a desk on the computer).

What cycle day do they typically do an HSG? I read 7-10. I guess I'm just trying to figure out a plan.. something to look forward to in this long waiting game we are all in....

After the HSG they will decide if I'm going to Clomid or injectables. We'll see!

Hi Stephanie

I just had an HSG this week so I thought I'd share my experience with you.

Firstly, the HSG has to be done between AF and O. I was on CD 11 when they did mine. I know some people have found the HSG's painful and everybody here will tell you how nervous I was leading up to it but it turned out to be COMPLETELY pain free! I couldn't believe it! I really hope you have the same experience. If you do find it a little painful then looking at the monitor while they do it might be a good idea as it will be a distraction for you. The nurse held my hand the entire time and soothed me through it and that helped a lot too.
Afterwards they prescribed antiboitics to prevent infection and I just finished taking those this morning. My tubes were clear so DH and I are going to be trying naturally this month, though I am on clomid.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be just fine. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
