What does it mean when you have a halo around your mole

Hi,
My mom had one of these. As far as I remember, it's not cancerous, but she had it removed because it was on her face and she didn't like the way it looked.

Hi Helen,
I saw your post and thought that was what my mole was (just had it removed), but it is not. Mine was a light brown halo around the dark mole. I researched and this is what I found (shows pictures):

I had one checked out by a dermatologist and they said it was fine. But if you are ever in doubt have it checked out.
